Joseph Kakande is six years old.  He is in the nursery class at Beth Pipe Nursery and Primary School. He is the fifth born in a family of six children. Joseph lives with both of his parents although the father and mother live in an absolute state of poverty and can afford only one meal a day. Joseph’s parents rent a room, in Kyamondo-Lukaya, where they live. They have a small piece of land in the nearby village where they do subsistence farming. They have great difficulty raising school fees and paying for scholastic materials as the only money they obtain must be used to buy food and other basic necessities for their family. Joseph hopes to become a pilot in future and is committed to coming to school daily. If someone could give Joseph a helping hand, he could receive the education that he needs to become a self-supporting adult and a help to his parents in time to come.
